This is the 3rd modification that i do to all my printers, These silicone bed mounts replace the compression springs under your heatbed.
Why replace the springs?
I found that the springs from the factory where very weak and as a result would work loose from the vibration during printing, This meant that i was having to re-level the bed every few prints, and to be perfectly honest it became a bit tedious. I first replaced the factory springs with the stronger yellow ones that you can find on the internet but they where just the same granted i didn’t have to level the bed as often but it was still far too regular.
I then found these orange silicone mounts and thought i would give then a try, They were quite cheap so had nothing to lose, i install the silicone mounts and what a game changer it was, I now only level my bed every few months. I have one printer that i installed these silicone mounts on that has not had its bed leveled in over a year.
So how do i replace the springs with these mounts?
First raise your x gantry up near the top of the printer to give you room to work, Next power down the printer and unplug it. (Safety First) Next remove all 4 knobs under the bed. I found it easier to lift one side of the bed to remove the springs and replace with the silicone mounts then do the other side, rather than remove the bed and have to try flipping the bed over with all 4 mounts attached, yes you guessed right one always ended up on the floor.
When you buy a pack of 4 they come in 2 forms one has the mounts all the same height usually 18mm the other has 3 at 18mm and one at 16mm. The 16mm mount goes at the back left where the heat bed wires are.
Next screw the 4 knobs back on and tighten down. plug the printer back in and power up, level the bed and do a bed mesh (G29). Once the bed mesh completes save it to eeprom and you should be good for a long time.
